Eternal Midnight at the Video Store
A Novella
Maci is an anti-social cinephile who runs the video rental portion of her uncle's convenience store in a small, Southern town. Her sister, Amanda, also works at the store, the ever-bright beacon of bubbly energy. Maci doesn't care much for anything outside of her video tapes. She watches them day in and day out and has an encyclopedic knowledge of film. When a storm rips through their town one night, Maci and Amanda find themselves imprisoned in the store with nothing to pass the time but an endless supply of action and horror movies. The night stretches on and on as if they'll never see the light of day again... and what of the strange noises outside?
At its core, Eternal Midnight at the Video Store is a love letter to film nerds by a film nerd. It's for all those who have ever wished to escape from real life into the fantasy of a good story, be it on film or in writing. If you think that describes you, you've come to the right place. Written by Corey Daggett. Approximately 30,000 words or 60 pages. Not recommended for children, or adults with weak stomachs. Available on
